Join the AIA Baltimore Practice Management Committee for a presentation on the Research and Development Tax Credit. Learn how you can take advantage of this credit as presenters Vernon Brokke of Brokke Group and Dina Bernstein of Katz Abosch explain the requirements, application and benefits. The Research and Development Credit can apply to most architecture firms, regardless of their specialty or focus.

The federal government has set aside $10 billion in annual tax savings for U.S. businesses to claim this incentive, but few businesses take advantage of it. The vast majority of companies who qualify for the credit are either unaware it exists or, if they are aware it exists, incorrectly believe they do not meet the requirements.

The goal for the presentation is to help those working in and on behalf of the architectural industry better understand what the Research & Development Credit is and how it may apply to their business.

Learning Objectives:

1. Be able to define the R&D Tax Credit Intent and History. Why is it a Win-Win?

2. Be able to Describe the 4 Components of the Federal Research and Development Tax Credits

3. Describe 3 or more Qualifying Research Expense (QRE’s) applicable to Architectural or Engineering Firms

4. Understand the Differences between State R&D vs. Federal R&D Tax Credits
